The extension isn’t showing data
Sidebar empty, icon grey, or no valuation showing? Nine times out of ten it’s one of four things. Here they are in order of how often they hit.
Most common causes
- Not logged in — click the extension icon. Does it show your account email? If not, sign in.
- AT session expired — the green dot on the dashboard turns red after about 20 hours. Reconnect via the AutoTrader help page.
- Site not supported yet — check the supported-sites list for the current line-up.
- VRM not visible — some Motorway listings hide the plate until purchase. Without a VRM the extension can’t run AT or MOT lookup. The Scan Auctions Valuation engine still produces a value from make/model/year/mileage.
Quick fixes
Refresh the listing page
Plain old reload (Cmd/Ctrl + R). The extension re-injects on every page load, and a refresh fixes a surprising number of glitches.
Check the connection status
Click the extension icon. The popup shows your account and the AutoTrader connection status. If either looks off, fix it from there.
Reload the extension
Open chrome://extensions, find ScanAuctions, click the circular arrow (“Reload”). Then refresh the listing tab.
Log out and back in
Through the extension popup, log out and log back in. This refreshes the auth token inside the extension — useful if your password recently changed or your session drifted out of sync.
Still broken?
Check the extension’s developer console: right-click the popup → Inspect → Console tab. Send us a screenshot of any red errors via Support — we’ll dig in. Include the URL of the listing that wasn’t enriching; most fixes turn around within a day.
