Connecting Motorway

Motorway is a dealer-only auction platform for sourcing used stock from the trade. Connecting your Motorway Pro account lets ScanAuctions scan its daily auctions alongside CarWow and cross-reference every car against AutoTrader retail values.

You need an active Motorway Pro dealer account. Consumer Motorway accounts (private sellers) won’t work — the dealer auction stream is gated behind Pro.

Method A: Chrome extension (recommended)

Install the extension

If you haven’t already, install the ScanAuctions Chrome extension. Full guide: Installing the Chrome extension.

Log in to Motorway Pro

In the same browser, go to https://pro.motorway.co.uk and sign in normally. Complete any 2FA prompts.

Capture the session

Click the ScanAuctions extension icon in the toolbar → Capture Motorway session. The extension reads your login cookies and uploads them to ScanAuctions encrypted.

Confirm the connection

Open /dashboard — the Motorway tile should now show a green “Connected” status. You can start a scan immediately.

Method B: Email + password (fallback)

Open Connections settings

Go to Settings → Connections and click Connect Motorway.

Enter your credentials

Type your Motorway Pro email and password. Both are encrypted with AES-256 at rest before being saved.

Save

Click Save. The first scan you run will use these credentials to log in headlessly via our scraping infrastructure.

The password method can’t handle 2FA. If your Motorway Pro account has two-factor enabled, you’ll need to use the Chrome extension method instead.

Session expiry

Motorway sessions last roughly 24 hours. After that:

Extension users — you’ll get a prompt to recapture next time you open ScanAuctions. One click and you’re back.
Password users — ScanAuctions re-logs automatically using the stored credentials. No action needed unless your password changes.

Closed window

Motorway is offline for maintenance daily from 15:30 to 16:30 UK time. Scans started during this window will warn and skip Motorway, completing with CarWow results only. Re-run after 16:30 to pick up Motorway lots.

Privacy

ScanAuctions never sells or displays your Motorway login outside your own account. Cookies and credentials are encrypted at rest. Full details on the privacy page.

Once Motorway is connected, every filter you run can include Motorway in its platform list — the connection is global, not per-filter.
